ranco probe well.
« on: October 06, 2014, 03:51:01 PM »

Where can I find a probe well for the RANCO 111000 aquastat?  I bought one for my last burner years ago that I built.  Can't seem to find another one.

They are not easy to find. I have a 100 of them on the way. I will probably getting around $10 shipped for them.

Make your own. Super easy. I think I used a 12 inch piece of quarter inch copper, capped one end, then soldered that to a brass fitting that fit the bung.

Actually the sensor for the Ranco is 1/4" OD. might try a piece of 5/16 or 3/8" even. I went to our local welding shop and grabbed a piece of half inch brass they had in the scrap barrel, chucked it in the lathe, bored a hole not quite thru it, turned it down then used a 1/2 pipe die to cut the threads, homemade thermo well for about three beers.

Maybe it was 5/16 that I got. I know that the probe fit snug and slid tightly into the pipe.

Actually my previous post was a brain fart, was thinking OD on the copper pipe for some reason.

I bought mine off ebay, got two twelve inch wells for 15 bucks with shipping.
