Hey guys, wondering how often you recommend cleaning the chimney, venter assembly and the area behind the venter assembly of the G200? I know Slimjim has a few years of experience with the G200 but I have never asked him about cleaning that area.

All depends how much wood you run thru it.

I cleaned that area on my G400 about half way thru the winter, didn’t really need it to be honest, had a warm spell and I let it go out and I was curious.

That's a great question schoppy, I was told by the factory that perhaps once during the heating season and again at the end of the season, HondaRacer has my 2015 show boiler, I think between what we used it here and with the shows, we put probably put 8-10 full cord through it and I don't recall ever cleaning it before I delivered it to Honda, he can elaborate on what shape it was in then. I think most folks should at least check it once during the season and then clean it for sure in the spring.

I didn't clean mine at all during the season last year and when Slim came out to change the turbulators  out we cleaned in behind the fan and under the stack. I don't recall there was really much in there. We gave it a quick scrape with a putty knife and vac'd it out and back in business. I would have pulled the cover when I shut down and cleaned the boiler in May when I cleaned everything else , but I figured why pull it apart twice. I shake down the turbulators every morning as part of my morning routine. As far as cleaning out the ashes in the bottom I clean it out about every cord of wood or about once a month. I only clean out the burn chamber in the spring and have never had much left in there maybe a couple inches of ash. I do scrape some of the creosote out from around the bottom of the door opening from time to time , not because it's causing any issues it's just because I like it clean.

I left the bypass and the door open once( the boy was running towards the road) when I got back there was sparks coming out the stack, figured it was clean after that.

As Richard mentioned I bought his show boiler. I cleaned the top chamber halfway through the season. That was after an additional 3-4 cords in addition to what Richard had burned. I may have had 1/2 an inch in some spots. Very clean, zero creosote up there. My fan did have a good coating on the fan blades which I scraped off and blew off with the compressor. As far as cleaning out the reaction chamber and under the turbulators I do that after every cord or about once per month.

I have cleaned out the ash in the bottom once this heating season so far and there wasn't a lot there. I clean out the creosote in the upper combustion chamber as needed.

I had the venter assembly area apart several times on my G400. I made a fitting to clean out the bottom of the chimney area above the venter as ash builds up there and sits on the flat ledge above the venter.

BIG AL why did you have to change out your turbulators? I operate mine once a day in the evening about 6 to 7 times.

The factory tried some lighter duty ones that could bend if they were not used often enough and HeatMaster had me change them out to a heavier gauge.

Never had any trouble , but the new ones are much heavier. You can really feel the difference when you shake the handle. Thanks Slim and Heatmaster for the upgrades. Cleaned out the bottom of my stove yesterday maybe filled half a bucket.

After five minutes with the bypass open the draft blower will shut off and the red light will continue to flash until the bypass is shut, built in function of the Logo! controller.

As I recall Al, it might have had something to do with cold aluminum cans and the contents within.

might have had something to do with that , but it was snowing and cold as hell if you remember.
