Title: air tubes
Post by: stratton on November 24, 2013, 12:38:38 AM
Question for scott or slim. I have a DS aqua gem 3200 indoor wood boiler. From the factory, they have (3) air holes coming into the top area of the fire box. They call em the smoke after burners.Do you think if i add Stainless steal tubes to the inlet holes i could get the BLUE FLAME???? Just thinking…. epa wood stoves secondary looks pretty cool
2nd thought…. Are the temps inside the wood boiler not hot enough to achieve secondary burns????

Not sure it would help any at all, a stove capable of this must be designed this way from the ground up.

Stainless tubes would make no difference, it's all about the temprture of the air/ smoke mixture and the concentration of each, tempertures can be brought up with firebrick lining of the firebox, fuel/smoke and air mixture is a guessing game, about a 50/50 mix seems to work well, as Scott said it pretty much needs to start in the design phase, adding refractory brick will help but getting it to gasify and burn well will be a trick.
