Can you post a picture of it? I have never seen a Hardy stove but assume the solenoid setup is similar to others.

sorry , dont have digital camera handy. pipe from  under grates comes over to small fan, has a lid,"damper door" over the other side so air cant get in-in off mode. when aquastat calls for heat dormeyer brand solenoid pulls the lid open and turns the fan on to stoke the fire.
smoke must be traveling through the fan blades , and getting goo , Creosote, on the gasket  during off cycle.
wondering if i need a stronger or better solenoid INSTEAD of the dormeyer 2005-m-1??????
or is there a better answer?

Is the door actually sticking down? What is the gasket made of?
That solenoid should be ok. How much travel does it have to fully seat? If you can make it as short as possible it will pull a lot better. The farther away it is the weaker it gets. If it doesn't pull in it will burn up the coil pretty fast.

I found a pretty good sized solenoid at the office today. If you want to give it a try you can have it for $20
If you want to see a pic of it next to one like you have, let me know.

I have heard of people placing some oil on the gasket.. Not sure if that will work... also what if you placed a small nail or something in between the damper door and the gasket to help not allow the door to seal

already bought another selenoid , but will go bigger if this one dies.
i 'll  try oiling the gasket.
i just hope the smoke that must be flowing back though the blower doesnt hurt it.

If you can adjust it down any to shorten the stroke I think it would help a lot. I have no idea if the oil would work but if it gets too hot it might get sticky.
I wonder why smoke is getting there anyway. Is the chimney clear? I would think if anything the smoke would want to go away from it if it is the lowest point.

I am on my third fan in 5 years from the smoke coming back into the fan.  The fan blades get creosote build up and eventually come off.  I don't know what I am doing wrong because I keep the ashes cleaned out and the wood is seasoned fairly well.
As far as the door sticking, I have not had that happen so I can't help you there.  Maybe make sure the chain is not too long and is almost taught when the door is closed.  Make sure the door/flapper closes or you can overheat and boil the water from the air getting in.

I'll have to remember that if mine ever gives me any problems.  So far, so good though.
