When I'm gone for the weekend, I come back to no fire with cold air blowing from the fan.  I have a MF3000 Heatmaster, is there anyway to shut down the fan when it hits something like 100 degrees and let it burn out on its own and not get blown out by the fan?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Damper Fan
« on: December 16, 2014, 08:38:55 PM »
Hey friends,
My temp was having trouble getting passed 140 this morning despite a good fire going in the firebox.  I noticed my fan was louder than normal as it was on trying to kick up the heat. Is there a way to clean the fan or inside the blower? I'm wondering if that's the problem. I took out the whole pan to clean out extra ash down there, but it's still louder than normal. Thanks for words of wisdom!
Oh I have the heatmaster MF3000

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Any tips/hints/tricks for a new user?
« on: November 12, 2014, 09:54:30 PM »
Hey Friends, I'm loving my new Heatmaster MF3000 but as a newbie I need some help.
My first few weeks burning the temp wasn't too cold and filling up the furnace would last about 20 or so hours before I'd put more wood in.
Since the temps have dropped pretty low it's been different.  Yesterday morning (after filling the stove around 9 at night) I went out at 630 in the morning and my water temp was at 110 with just coals burning.

Does anyone have any tips to not burning through lots of wood so quick? I have my water temp set at 170 and the blower kicks on at 160.  My damper is at 50% and I usually keep the house around 72 to 75.  I'm heating a 2000 sq ft home and a 50 gallon water heater.  Now, I'm not sure on what type of wood I'm burning, but I do know it's not as seasoned as so people say, it's pretty green.
Anything would be helpful, thanks!

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Outdoor Lighting
« on: October 17, 2014, 09:11:49 AM »
So, the Heatmaster MF3000 does not come with the light installed on the unit and I was wondering if anyone wanted to share some pictures of how they light up their furnace area.  I have a couple trees by my furnace, so I could attach a light(s) to the tree, I just don't know how I would install on outdoor light switch.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Piping question
« on: October 03, 2014, 07:37:33 AM »
I know I'm kind of ignorant on this stuff, but I'm new so I'm learning. Two questions: is this good piping? I'm used to seeing what looks like ceramic insulation  with a blue and red pipe. 2. Is it worth $10 a foot?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Am I wasting my money?
« on: October 01, 2014, 05:46:50 AM »

So I got what I thought was an approximate price for everything I needed for the mf5000, which was $8000. I take out a loan for that exact amount and then my invoice is $9000.  My question is this: I would like the 5000 so I only load my furnace once a day, but my house is 2000 sq ft, so do I really need it? Would I be fine with the mf3000? I can't tell if I'm too stuck on the 5 and need to settle for the 3. I've also thought about moving brands and doing the woodmaster 4400 (which I could afford with my budget) bc is still heats the same amount as the 5000, but it doesn't have the grates/ ash pan which is a major selling point for me. Help please!

Plumbing / Digging Trench from Furnace to House
« on: September 29, 2014, 08:18:37 PM »
So I'm planning on install my new furnace by myself, but have a question.  When I dig the trench, two feet deep, do I dig so the piping can go under my foundation to my house? I just wasn't sure if that would hurt the houses foundation.

Do I want my wood to be thick, long pieces?  Skinny, long pieces?  Thick, short pieces?  Skinny, short pieces?
I'm trying to figure out which type of wood burns the best.  If anyone has any tips/tricks/hacks, please fill me in!

Ps. I'll be getting a Heatmaster 5000 soon!
Thanks, Ben

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Narrowing Down My Options
« on: February 25, 2014, 03:07:34 PM »
So, as I research and creep on here, I believe I've narrowed my OWF to three options:
Heatmor 100CSS
Heatmaster 3000e
Woodmaster 3300

Now I know the dealer is very important, and the furthest any of these dealers are is about 45 miles.  How do I tell who is a good dealer?  And can anyone find any fault in my assumptions that these 3 OWF are a good purchase?
Thanks!
Ben

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Question about water tanks
« on: February 16, 2014, 04:44:45 PM »
Hey, my dad and I are researching these OWF pretty extensively and he asked a good question that I hope you all can help me with.
Say I go on vacation during winter break and I'm not at home to keep my furnace going, could the water in the tank potentially freeze and crack while there is no fire going?
This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm new to this stuff.  Any wisdom is greatly appreciated!

So I'm from the Southwest Missouri area and not far from a dealer for Earthwood.  When we were talking, he recommended me the Rancher 360 Series for my situation, which is also what he uses.  He said the Firebox is .5" thick, which is different than most brands, which have a 3/8" thickness.  The salesman said this helped use a lot less wood, etc.
Is this .5" thickness true that the Rancher 360 uses a lot less wood than other brands (heatmor, hardy, etc) because of it's thicker firebox?
Thanks!
