Am I wasting my money?
« on: October 01, 2014, 05:43:05 AM »

So I got what I thought was an approximate price for everything I needed for the mf5000, which was $8000. I take out a loan for that exact amount and then my invoice is $9000.  My question is this: I would like the 5000 so I only load my furnace once a day, but my house is 2000 sq ft, so do I really need it? Would I be fine with the mf3000? I can't tell if I'm too stuck on the 5 and need to settle for the 3. I've also thought about moving brands and doing the woodmaster 4400 (which I could afford with my budget) bc is still heats the same amount as the 5000, but it doesn't have the grates/ ash pan which is a major selling point for me. Help please!

How well insulated is your home? Are you heating your domestic water too?

Twice a day loadings are normal in the depths if winter. If you only load once a day, you are wasting energy. Your best usage of your load is by loading twice a day.

I would have to agree with country boy. Twice a day is the best way to do it. Keeps stove running great and keep the firebox cleaned out better.

You should be able to find a dealer to sell you the 5000 plus the main parts for $8,000

They are the only dealer around me, so I went for the mf3000 for $8000, am I getting ripped off?

I can't really say if you are getting a good deal for your area or not. We sell a 3000 for $5700 and a 5000 for $6600. As far as parts they can vary a lot but you might find some cheaper options online.

I just had a mf5000 installed. Stove, 50ft of insulated pipe, 30 plate exchanger for dhw, water to air exchanger in duct work, delivery and installation..  Total bill was 9300.00.

If Yoder can sell you one for $5700 you should just have it shipped to your house from him.  That's a huge difference in price.  My 5000e wasn't even 8k.

Buying from a local dealer is important, I wouldn't step on another dealers toes. http://www.heatmasterss.com/contact Check and see if there may be another dealer close enough to get a second price. Also check and see if the local dealer is including the rebate offered right now.

Another possibility I just though of but I don't know where you are located. I have a customer who is putting a used fairly new MF3000e on the market so he can buy a MF5000e I have in stock. You may be able to buy a furnace like that and the parts to install for about $7,000 or less. Message me if you are interested or live close enough to Va for shipping not to kill ya.
