Title: Ayuh,... I started the build,....
Post by: Bondo on January 29, 2016, 07:02:42 AM
After findin' this on the interweb last winter, I fell in love with the design,....

I'd been lookin' at various hoe-mounted splitters, 'n was dreadin' the hassle of runnin' Aux. hyd.s to a hoe mounted splitter,....
Then I saw this,....

I called the guy, 'n the price tag of 2 Grand is beyond my means right now,....
So, bein' poor, cheap, but Handy,....
I'm buildin' my own vision of this here splitter,....

Looks pretty slick, good luck with the build.  Let us know how you made out when it's done.

Here's the 1st mock-up,....

Gonna re-mount the blade, abit farther away from the dipper boom for a better angle,...

Well,....     I guess I'd better up-date this project,....

It was a complete failure,....    ::)

To credit the guy in the video that sells his creation, If All yer fire wood looks like his, small, 'n straight grained, it works just Fine,.....
In My wood yard, with gnarly knotty chunk wood, it was a complete Failure,....

I figure I'd need atleast a 6" diameter bucket cylinder on the backhoe to actually have any hyd. Power,....

I could clamp, pickup, 'n move the blocks, but splittin' 'em was absolutely Outa the question,....
It dented the big blocks, 'n only split 12"dia. spruce, 'n only without knots,...

Now I'm movin' on to a spiral cone type splitter, a Titan (http://www.palletforks.com/auger-log-splitter-8-5-x-20-pto.html?gclid=CI6t6q_OpNACFQpWDQodCoUCBQ) to be exact,....
