Spring Boiler Cleanup
« on: April 26, 2020, 07:48:11 AM »

It's  coming close to shutting down the furnace for the year.  Still getting nights below freezing and close to May. Thought I would be shutting it down earlier but been a strange year.
I am wondering what the best way to remove creasote in a G2 is. I have a little around the door but not much visible elsewhere.  I read the manual and it explains how to clean the fan area and other locations but not much assistance with creasote removal. Seen some removal products but don't know about using them in G2.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Where is the creosote you need to remove? I'm not super familiar with the polar units, pictures might help. Has anyone else on the forum run a polar?

Here are a couple of pictures I took today. Hopefully they will help you see what I am talking about.
Thanks

I'd just take a scraper and knock the creosote off the door and firebox door. Mine looks a lot worse, yours isn't bad at all.

Okay thanks, I have scaped it off and it does look a lot better. Still have to take fan out and clean it and clean chimney etc.

My experience, follow the airway all the way through. Clean any obstructions/creosote/ash. Obviously every model is designed differently, but the principles are all the same.
If the air can move, it'll burn good. Choke it down and it'll creosote like crazy.
