Title: What size opening for furnace plumbing into new basement?

Hello, getting ready to pour basement walls and was wondering what size of opening I needed for all my furnace lines?  I squeezed it all in a 4" where I'm located but was thinking about using a 6" pipe this time for plenty of room.  Would a thin walled 6" pvc be ok or is there any reason to use schedule 40?  How far down under ground should I go for my area in Southwest Missouri?  I'm running my well line around 3 feet down.  Would that be enough the the furnace as well?  Any comments appreciated.

OldSamDog,

Had to drill through 10" poured wall and used 5" core drill.  Young man driven, highly recommended for that adventure!  But, suggest when pouring, use correct, slightly oversized sleeve of your choice.  2-3 ft below grade.  Don't forget conduit for electric.

   I'm in southeast MO and everybody that I have talked to around here have said they only trenched about 16 to 24in. But alot of them told me if they were to do it again they would go deeper. The frost line here is only about 16-18in deep but I'm fixing to start my install and I have decided to go three feet deep with my lines. As far as the basement wall goes I will be drilling :bash:... So yes use an oversized sleeve is the way to go you just run your pipe through it and seal around it. The S&D aka=(thin wall) pipe would work just fine for that.

I used 6" Female threaded to the outside as a sleve. Im glad i went with the 6" to get extra distance from the cold basement walls and i ended up using 6" insulated lines. You wont be able to go larger once the concrete is poured...

i had to chop a trench in my garage to get to my basement wall (long story) my basement is an old stone wall. i used 12 inch pipe and sloped it away from teh basement so no water would run in it, pulled my 6 inch boiler pipes through and that was it
