6 of one half dozen of the other.  I usually go I'm the bottom n out the top tho, not sure It matters

I prefer in bottom out top because it is easier to get (and keep) the air out. But last time there was a post about this, someone had a big long thing about why it should be in top and out bottom.

I really haven't seen it really make that much of a difference.

i have the exchangers in my plenum with the in and out both at the top so it is easier to get out if i want to clean any dust off it that gets through the filter. has been like that 11 years and i have never had a problem. i think the water is going through so fast that it wont make any difference on heating.
