I have to get from the basement to the HE in the attick, say 18' up thru an internal wall. Now there is no chance in H_LL of getting noodly 1" PEX thru. Any problem going from 1" PEX to 1" CPVC to go up thru the house? CPVC has the same temperature rating.
Secondly, I probably heed a way to fill the pipe in the atick to get acolumn of return water so the pump has a chance. What is the best practice?

At your local plumbing store they should have 20' sticks of pex

Thanks Country, I have seen the smaller diameter PEX sticks at Lowes. I'll check with Furgeson for 1". Should have thought of that.

I used alot of CPVC in my house and shop. Have had no problems at all. You need to make sure you use the correct primer and cement. It is WAYYY cheaper than copper pipe.

I wouldn't ever use CPVC for anything.
My brother had it in a bathroom he was redoing and to remove it he just grabbed it and pulled any it shattered. After seeing that I will never use it for anything.
What brand of pex are you using? Some will will go fairly straight when unrolled and even kind of stay where you bend it. Nibco is one brand I know of that is that way.

My only experience with pex is my OWB. I put cpvc in my old house and after 5 + years noticed it did become brittle when I tried to add to it. I would guess hotter water from the burner would acccelerate the brittleness. Had a plumber that "claimed" he saw pex expand 4 times its diameter and return with no visible signs of stress. Not sure I beleive that, but I would think pex would br better for your situation. Copper would disipate too much heat to quick for a run like like that.

I have 1" rolls of Pex Guy brand and there is no way I can get it straight to feed up thru the house. I have seen 1/2" CPVC in my houses that seemed brittle after 10-15 years so I think I'll buy PEX Sticks. Don't know that I can get 20' pcs home so I'll probably end up with 10' pcs.
