While reading Pintopaul's posts, I got to wonder. In one posting on here somewhere, I saw where a member had taken the blower motor and turned it so that the flapper is on the "top" of the blower motor...just above the squirrel cage, as opposed to perpendicular to the right of the blower. Now does blower motor have enough "oomph" to push that flapper up and open? Or is mounting the flap "along side" the blower the better option?
Asking this now because sometime this week, I will (read:should) be receiving my new blower motor/auto damper.

I'm not sure what you mean. The solenoid raises the flap, the fan comes on and blows air in. Solenoid and fan shut off at the same time and it shuts the air off to the stove. I like to see the flapper being lifted from directly above the opening of the fan "intake" so gravity can aid in sealing it off

I think this is what Scott is talking about. solenoid opens damper weight of damper closes off opening. Rubber gasket helps make good seal.

See this rivets On top of the fan intake? Those ideally should be removed. Heatmaster usesa flat piece of steel and removes the rivets and fasten the piece back down with silicone. That way the rivets are out of the way and the flat steels fits well with the intake opening

Scott...yep this is what I meant. I have a difficult time explaining myself at times.....heck I know what I mean, it's just that you guys can't figure it out. LOL!
the way Shaver installed the blower motor is well...not good. Will have to re-mount the motor "whenever" it arrives.

wow my wood master stove auto damper looks nothing like this set up.i'd take a picture and show ya mine but i dont have any way of doing it other than my cell phone. :pic:

From where did you get the rubber gasket? After a couple modifications with a B.F.H. we got the lid on the damper to close much straighter than it was when I received it. I had to laugh...the guy at Shaver said, "well sometimes the damper get damaged in shipping." Yeah, well since when did the UPS dude start carrying a welding machine in his truck?
