Hey, if you split wood by hand, you need to get a Fiskars X27 axe.  I was using an 8# maul with wedges and got the Fiskars last week.  I had read a lot of reviews that indicated it would split with one swing, and it does...on stuff that is less than 12" diameter and 18" long.  You won't do that with stuff that is 26" long and 18" in diameter, which is what I have plenty of.  However, it takes a few more swings, but the axe head doesn't get hung up in the wood, and overstrikes doesn't damage the handle.  It's the best design improvement I've ever seen in an axe.  And unlike the characters in the Youtube video, you are not likely to loose your hand.

Agree 100%! I have a Fiskars X27 and I love it. I bought the sharpener with it, and I keep it nice and sharp. I only split the stuff my wife can't pick up, but it makes splitting easy.

Whats up with the 8" long wood there.  They burning it in a kiddy stove?  I'd like to see them try to split some real wood.  Something 24"+ long.  They were holding that handle so close to the head there is no way they were getting much force at all.
