I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with there CL5036 boiler mine will periodicaly spike to over 200+ degree's, Ive checked my door and there is a bow in the top & on the side of the door latch that bow's out. Is this commen I have checked with a T-Square and its Bowed. What do you think would be the normal replacement time's of the door gasket seal. thanks ::)
-
I haven't had that problem, but mine is new. How old is your unit? Might be something I need to watch?
A new gasket kit will probably help. but it won't straighten out the door.

We have had the boiler going on 3 years I believe Ive had this problem the whole time, Its weird it doesnt do it all the time. Sometime's I come home the boiler is empty sometimes its 200plus degree's, Im not knocking this wood boiler in any way I really do enjoy it great heat coming out the vent's and a lot of hot water. :)

If the door is warped, I would definitely be calling my dealer for a replacement door before you burn up the entire unit. It's just a matter of time before you ruin the water bladder or pex tubing.
-
Just an added note:
Every time I go out to stock I wear gloves (workman gloves) after stocking and before closing the door I run my hands over the door edges to remove any creosote that might have accumulated since my last visit. I also run my hand through the daft door shoot to make sure it's clear. If the unit is not in a burn cycle I "flip the flap" a couple of times to loosen anything that might of accumulated there also.
When stocking, keep your wood 6-8" away from the door.
So far no issues.

The other day I came home the boiler was 200 degree's granted its gotten colder now, I'm going to make sure the Damper plate is sealing good tomorrow and offer to buy another rope gasket from my Dealer. Im starting to get the feeling he is avoiding me not returning e-mails when he once did, I'm going to call him tomorrow also. Every time I mention the door he act's like he is having to pay for it.??? :(

I can promise you if I called my dealer about a warped door, he would insist that I get a replacement because those high temps will ultimately wreck the boiler or your pex tubing, either of which would be a real large expense.
-
Does your have the Heat plates that hang on the inside of the door?

Why would it hurt his pex tubing? In non pressurized systems all the pex I've seen used is rated up to 240, he can't get it that hot
The 180 rating u see n some pex is rated at 100psi

I got home today from work and found my boiler at a nice toasty 201 degree's, I called and left e-mails today with my dealer that I want a new door, also my damper plate appears to be slightly bowed. >:(
-
I talked to my dealer he say's he will be in my area Sat. We are going to look at door and the damper flap he might have both with him. Ill let everyone know how it went. :)
-
My dealer that I bought my boiler from is supposed to be coming by Sat 1/21/2012 we have talked about the door & the damper I think there are issue's with both. Ill report back later :)

My dealer didn't show up Saturday, I did not really expect him to since it was raining all day. But he could have called me and told me was not going to make it :'(
-
If it is covered under a manufactures warranty I would call and send a fax to cb, you should not have to wait because you have a lame dealer
-
Absolutely call or fax CB directly before this costs you a lot more than a new door.

Haven't heard back from him since last week, e-mailed and called. I did some looking at the door and the place's where the door attach to boiler the bottom hinge appear's to be a 1/16 of an inch closer than the top. ???? I don't know if all CL5036's are like this. :bash:
-
When I got off of work Monday I came home to find the CL-5036 with a temp of 90 degree's, I took the cover off of the frpnt door where the Damper plate is, I cleaned this area with sand paper both sealing surface's and adjusted the plate after loosing the 2 screw's that secure it to the door. I was able to get a much tighter seal when using a flash light shining from the outside its not a 100% but it must have helped a lot because when the damper is closed I can hardly see any smoke coming from the chimney. Well its Friday morning and it has been warm, my temps since Tuesday in the morning and when I get home have been between 173 and 177 degree's with wood still being in the boiler. I will follow up on this later :)
P.S. My door is still bowed

My dealer came out to replace the damper on my boiler tonight he got here at 6 pm I was impressed because that was a 1 hr plus ride from where he live's to get here. I also got a new rope gasket that Im going to replace Sat. I hope this take's care of my issue's. Ill leave an update later

My dealer came by last night and replaced the damper plate then I replaced the rope gasket again this afternoon, will see how it looks tonight when it finished a burn cycle. See how much smoke still comes out.
-
My dealer came by last Friday and brought a new damper plate that we changed, then I changed the rope gasket Saturday trying to see if it's any better. Came Home today it was 168 degree's :) I have been cleaning the damper plate sealing area about ever other day. The one thing that I did notice is after installing the rope gasket that there is a noticeable difference in the indentation in the upper right hand corner above the door latch where you can see the door is bowed out. :(
-
Sounds like your dealer should be about ready to give you a new door if everything else on the door does its job.
-
After cleaning the damper plate and changing the rope gasket one more time the boiler has been doing pretty good had one day the temp got up to 81 degree's the boiler was still 180
:)

Excellent! I'll keep these maintainence tips in mind.

I was talking to my dealer in NH and asked about thewarrenty. He said that it's prorated and went on to say that the door is the only thing that is covered 100% for 25 years.
