Looking into building a pole shed this coming summer..Sick and tired of the traps and having to clean the pile off with snow, 5th season by the way..How many out there had a trap then did a shed?..What does everyone do for wood storage?

I still tarp after after 19 years. It wasn't bad because we had an indoor wood burner and the kids hauled the wood. Now it's going to be a daily effort to untarp before loading the OWF. Not sure I'm going to like it too much. Luckily we haven't had a lot of snow yet.

I have an 18' by 60' lean to on the back of my garage but it doesn't all go for wood storage. I keep the bobcat, tractor, and crawler under there too.

1st year with boiler and using tarps .cleaning off the tarps after that 30ild" I got in oct sucked going to build lean or free standing 3 sided shed. Cant really picture wife outside cleaning off tarps while im up snowmobiling

I built a ten by twelve wood storage building out of left over steel from other projects. Some day I will have to paint the same color.

My Neighbor bought one of those Steel frame / Roof Type building that you see people put up to keep there Vehicles in. It has no sides just a roof, But for the size he got and the cost I couldn't put up a wood structure. Its like a 2 car building and he stores his wood in it and the splitter, has it wired with light so he can split at night if needed. I think the people he bought it from even put it up in I think 2 hours.

I got lucky, when we bought this house it has an old chicken coop, so I put the burner right next to it. Framed a door on the other side to load wood easier and that was it. I like the dry wood storage. If I did not have a shed I would at least build a lean to to help cover it, makes a huge difference to me.

You may want to warn him about snow load. There are previous threads with pics of collapsed structures just like that. tell him to brace the crap out of it if he gets a lot of snow. I always thought that would be the way to go until I saw some of those pics, not so sure now

I put a 12' by 30' lean along my pole barn . Its about 20 feet from my boiler. Works great ! It holds about 20 cord.

Built 12x30 shed with one end over OWB summer before last. Sure beats tarps plus your in the dry loading stove.

I've got a 30 x 24 wood shed with 2 sides closed in, 2 sides open. Wood boiler in one corner, the rest getting filled slowly with wood.

My wood shed framing is roughly 16x16 with but 2 foot of overhang all the way around it. Stove sits outside of it, this summer however I plan to add another 16' or so to the wood shed and come across the stove, I'll then have wood on both sides

The following is what I was going to build this November, but it got too muddy. This out building WILL be going up in the Spring. I bought the plans for this because this way I wouldn't have to either buy too much or not enmough. Gives complete details and ALL measurements to the T. I plan on adding on to this by an additional 8' and building an attached shed for my chain saw/wood splitter...anything related to cutting of wood.
Here is the website:

The plans are $50.00, but to me...money well spent for the reasons I mentioned above. Look for the 8' x20' wood bin along with the 6' x 14' weekender. The "Weekender" will be on one of the ends 8'x 20' wood bin and using the 8' x 20' plan.

I built a three sided wood shed out of scrap wood and 4x4's. It holds about 2 cord of wood. It sure beats using a tarp. I built a small extension on the side this fall that holds 1/2 cord of wood. I am building another extension on the other side too. I am using all of my scrap wood. I painted it and the wife likes it too! It works for me.
