Title: loading tips

Anyone on here that can give me any loading tips. Got home at 1 am and stove was out. 8 degrees. Wood was all charred and didnt fall down into coals. Whats the key to keep would from bridging. Im using mix of rounds and splits

I have a relatively wide opening and if I feel I need to load it very full I try to keep smaller diameter, easier burning stuff in the middle and the big rounds on the sides.  I get bridging if I put big diameters in the middle of the second tier.

Don't "throw" it in, it should be placed in the stove basically the same way it's stacked in a cord.
