Title: burn cycles
Post by: woodfuel on January 09, 2012, 11:49:52 AM
Hello owb owners! I'm new to the forum and had just installed a cb cl5036, first owb, before the new year. How do u keep track of how many burn cycles u go through in a day?

Most don't.
If you want to, the easiest way is to use a data logger.
This is what I have on mine http://www.rsiboilers.com/temp.htm (http://www.rsiboilers.com/temp.htm)

RSI, is this an aftermarket part that hooks up to the electrical on an owb? If so would cb carry this? Just curious to see the recovery time on my owb with just stirring ashes on warmer days and not adding wood if i don't need to.

This one will send you emails every time your OWB starts a burn cycle. (after you set it up)

Read this post for setting up.

It just has a temperature probe attached to a pipe in the basement. Send me a message if you are interested in getting one.

RSI, Ridgekid, thanks for the info! I might monitor my burn cycles in the future, but as a new owb owner, i'm just going to sit back and enjoy the gas bill for now!!!

I know this may sound sarcastic so let me assure you its not before asking...
But why does this matter or why do you want to know?  I am happy just
gauging how much it burned by opening the door and seeing how much
wood got burned.
I am in the my first year with an OWB and so far, LOVE my P&M 250.  Am I
missing out on something?

jrider, i feel the same as you. Just trying to see if data from others calculates somehow to save a buck or two as a new owb operator. Knowledge is power!
