I got home this evening it had been a warm day for Jan 60 degree's went out to the boiler 200 degree's with a small amount of smoke still coming from the Chimney, I know I have issues with a bowed door but it was dark outside and my light on the boiler had gone out so I had a flash light with me and opened the door to the boiler and looked back thru it with the damper closed. I saw light coming thru it on the bottom edge. Not sure how much I should be able to see but I did remove cover and clean what I could where the plate set's. Not sure if this will help. :-\

Sorry, I didn't understand your post. Is your door bowed or was the damper plate not seated properly? Isn't this a new Cl5036? If it is a bowed door, CB needs to replace immediately before you mess up your boiler. Have you lost a lot of water to evaporation and boiling out? At my elevation, if my temperature hits 195, my water will boil.

Yes the door is bowed at the top and on the side that the door latch is on, wasnt sure how much light if any I should be able to see thru the damper. I cleaned it. didnt have much stuff on the sealing edge's :-\

It's really important to have a good seal around your door. If the door is defective, you need to have it replaced. If you don't have your door replaced, you will utimately ruin your entire stove.

pwdiver,
How old is your CL5036?
-
My boiler is 3 years old

Getting CB to replace your defective door has got to be of primary importance.

If you get a chance sometime look at the top edge of your door where the rope gasket goes and see if its straight, mine is bowed just enough to be visable I used a large framing square as my straight edge on the top edge the one that closes around your inner sealing edge off of the boiler.

This is just a test

I will give mine a close inspection tomorrow morning and let you know. I have a habit of running my gloved fingers around the seal once a day, but haven't noticed any bow.
