Title: owb size
Post by: gambleone on January 16, 2012, 07:03:53 PM
Going to buy an owb to heat 3000 sq ft. I am looking at the cb-5036. I live about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh.
Does this unit sound about right? House insulated good. All replies welcome.

                                                                                               Thanks, Greg

2700 sq ft and domestic HW heating. 50 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Unfortunately, May 31st 2011 was the last date a 5036 could be sold in PA due to EPA regulations. If you want one now you'll have to look for a gasifier.

Yeah shouldn't have any problem..with that size..If I reckon PA doesn't allow the sale of that model due to its not EPA phase 2..May wanna check into that..The E-Classic 2400 is probably equivalent to the 5036

Thanks for the replies. What do people think of these gasifiers? I know nothing about them. How long have they been in use???

You may want to look into a Mahoning unit. It can burn coal  [wink], so it is still legal in PA.

Is that true?  Are wood-coal burners exempt?

It I true,  I wouldn't buy a gasser at this time, but there is many ways around that regulation, just not from central booker cause they don't have grates and don't burn coal

That's good to know.  So in the future if I build a new house...I could take my stove with me.  I was under the impression that I would have to invest in a new gasser.
