Title: 029 stihl. what bar will it hadle?
Post by: chadley on January 22, 2012, 07:59:42 PM
I've been posting on other threads but can't find if a 029 will handle a 20 in bar and chain.  Anyone know? Also, will a stihl handle a husky 20 in bar?  I have two 20 in bars and 3 chains from my husky that I'm trying to see if they will fit the 029 so I don't have to buy new bars and chains to fit my dads 029.  Thanks

I have a 029 with a 20 inch bar and it sure will handle anything you want to cut. Keep the chain sharp and watch it mow the wood down!!

The 029 will run a 20in bar but keep it at a 325 chain. I put a 20in 3/8 on mine and it is as slow as watching paint dry :bash:, so I just bought a semi skip chain to help speed things up. But I have not got to try it out yet. If its not fast enuff Im going to try a full skip chain >:D.

Been runnin a 029 super w/20"bar for 13 years.  Couldn't be any happier!  Made lots of firewood and still runs great.  Plenty strong enough.  Can get heavy though, these last few years.  I guess it's my age, and not the saw's doing!
