I have been looking around on the internet for a unit heater that is already put together meaning, they already have the hx, fan and all of that stuff attached together as one unit. When looking around, none of them say anything about a filter.
I will be using this out in my shop where there can be quite a bit of dust at times. Shouldn't these have a filter on them to keep the hx from getting clogged up? I would think it would be a pain to try and clean the dust out of the hx several times per heating season. Thanks!

I have a hanging unit in my shop along with a regular furnace with an exchanger in it. Believe it or not it doesn't get very dirty. The fins in the exchanger arent quite as condensed and it isn't as thick as a an exchanger for a plenum. Just a quick cleaning with compressed air once a year is all you need.

Ok, cool. Thats how I figured I would clean it out was with my air hose. I won't be hooking up the shop until fall but I just want to get everything figured out in advance before I just dig into it! Thanks!
