Title: Portage & Main after 18 months
Post by: karlk on April 24, 2012, 03:51:48 PM
I have had my portage & main optimizer 250 going for 18 months continuos for heat and hot water. This is a review of the boiler, so far it has preformed well above my expectations ! I had a different boiler before this that I bought new and it was not half the boiler the p&m is. The P&M is easy to use and clean, and is well thought out. Brian from P&M calls every few months just to see how thing are working. The smoke is very minimal, heats my house easily, and imo doesnt use a lot of wood. With so many bad products out there I thought I should post about a good product and customer support! Im not a dealer Im just happy with this boiler .

It's nice to hear positive things about the boilers people have purchased.  Although I don't have the P&M, it is always nice to see a happy owner.  Roger

Thanks for the info! I am constantly looking at other brands to figure out what I will buy next.

I have the same boiler and am very happy with it as well.  Just one question though - are you the only person getting calls from Brian or Rory?  I have never heard from them since purchase but wasn't expecting to either.

Oh wait, I lied, I have another question.  What do you all use for water treatment?

I use the treatment that was supplied with the boiler. I also had the water tested, if you call p&m they will set you up with a contact for getting your water tested.Im not sure if Brian calls everyone of his customers. Sometimes we end up talking more about the economy than the boiler, more like friends than just business.

Can't quite let this pass unchallenged.  Brian may be an o.k. guy to have as a friend but he's a pr*ck to do business with.  I invested $25,000 in P+M product only to find Brian as the distributor selling directly to a customer a few miles away at a price so far below list I couldn't even come close to matching it.  Ask Brian about his well established dealer network....non-existant.  Sour grapes you say??  Check around, his poor reputation in the industry amongst dealers is well known.  God helped me get rid of the P+M product. >:(

Sorry to hear you were not happy with brian ,all I know is that he has treated me very well . When I called him before I purchased the boiler he gave me the names of my closest dealers. I bought mine from mayberry supply in nj  and not from the factory.
