What is this called and where would I find it, someone said Northern Tool but I cant find it there?

Yes it is! But they don't make it long enough for 24". I am looking for a quick guide to cut my logs at 24" lomg.

You can make one of those - Get a threaded metal union - screw one end on the saw and hook up the other end up with something the length you would like such as pvc pipe, small threaded rod or even rig up a piece of wood or fiberglass.

So your saying I should remove one of my nuts from my bar and find a union and attach a rod to that? Kind of confused on how I attach it to the saw.

So would I use a coupling nut?

Sounds like a good idea to me. The coupling would hold the cover on just like the nut. You could probably take a wooden dowel and force it to thread into the coupling. All thread of the same size would be an option but it would be heavy and I wouldn't want it around my saw.

So do you turn the saw upside down if you have to cut from left to right?  seems cumbersome, but I'll try almost anything once.

Cutting with the saw upside down sounds like a good way to end up in the ER.

A made a home made one that I walk down the log with and hit with a rubber mallet. I'll post a pick later.

lol that is funny a stick on a chain saw, I guess it would come in handy I could use a rear veiw mirror too, I just wing it

The problem is when it turns to ashes, I can't tell how long it was.  very frustrating!
