Title: which brand for the money??
Post by: dswogger on August 21, 2012, 12:44:16 PM: I was quoted a few prices for owb. Im looking at a burnrite or portage and main. Ive been quoted 5300 for burnrite. And 7800 for p&m. Both comparable in square footage. What should I go with??

Post by: MattyNH on August 21, 2012, 03:26:16 PM: Dont know anything about Burnrite ..Portage and Main is def the bigger name due to advertisement power....You know what buying a owb is like buying a car..All the bells and whistles etc....I guess it depends on what your wallet tells you what u can buy..Some on here will say a certain brands best/or suck etc..( Just like buying a foreign or domestic car )..You know what go what your gut says and if it fit your needs..Buy it!!

I have looked at both and the burnrite does almost nothing to keep the heat in the firebox and aid in heat transfer. What model pm are you looking at? I thought they started at$7900.00 and went up from there.

Bud what if the guy doesnt have the extra $600 bucks..How do you know the burnrite does nothing? Maybe in your situation it doesn't..

Post by: dswogger on August 21, 2012, 09:02:26 PM: ml 25 is 5900 with no pump or exchanger. Br is 5300 with pump and exchanger. If I got with pm what kind of pump should I get? What about water capacity pm only holds 90 br holds 120... Pm doesn't have a local dealer br does..

I feel pm is a better boiler .. Just want to know if its worth the extra money. Thanks

There are lots of cheap knock offs out there, they come and go a lot in this business

Post by: rick w on October 09, 2012, 07:23:16 PM: deffinetly go with the P.M. its a little extra but its well worth it in the long run. they are not woodboilers they are burning machines. you wont believe the amount of wood you will save that where the money is at.i bought mine from straw bale farms in trego wisconsin very good to deal with.
