Well I started up my hardy last night it got down to 39-40 here in Ohio. Anyone else start there's yet?
-
I was thinking about firing it up this weekend.
-
If I heated DHW with mine I would probably have it going by now. It was 38 deg here last night and 62 in my house this morning when I woke up. I hope to have my plate exchanger hooked up here pretty soon. After that I will fire it up. I'm thinking about 2 weeks from now.
-
I'm trying to hold out till 10/1.
Using the indoor cast iron stove now to take the chill off.
-
I was planning for Oct 1 but I got anxious and fired it up two nights ago. I am heating water with it this year so the btus will not go to waste. I am in Southern Indiana and my brother in law said there was ice on his car this morning. I am not sure what the actual temperature was.
-
i was going to wait but i didnt want my kids to be cold
-
I've had a firea few nights this season....
It is for sure on tonight, supposed to be 35-38
-
The hot shower alone is worth it I still can't believe the difference in that and electric hot water
-
Started mine last Saturday.
-
Started mine this past Wednesday. We are about out of propane for our water heater and I don't want that big ugly truck showing up until next spring!

I just hooked up my DHW this year and started the boiler a few days ago. There is a huge difference in the temps for sure. I had to explain to my wife how it will get much hotter the more we use so we do not scald our child. We use rain water for the entire house and now with free hot water we can take long guilt free showers any time we like.
-
Started mine last saturday, just for hot water now, lows just in lower 50's here.
-
Suppose to be in the mid seventies this week so I'll probably wait a little while longer. I'm still catching up on the firewood. :bash:
-
I started my stove yesterday really felt good this morning. Nothing beats the nice hot water.
-
Never shut mine off all summer... love the hot water... nothing better for a shower....
-
Fired mine up today. Didn't take long to get up to temp in this weather. It was nice to not hear the hot water heater kick on while showering.
-
Just fired mine up today to the pool.
-
I am still amazed by the hot water. I installed a 10 plate before the water heater and was concerned that due to the small amount of hot water we use and long times with no one home that the electric would be kicking on to maintain the temperature. There has not been a time in the two weeks since I fired up the boiler that the temps at the faucet have not been 20 degrees hotter than we keep the heater set to. I can not wait for next months electric bill.
-
10 plates make the same hest whether it's one shower or 20.. As long as your stove is running, its going to work fine
As far as 10 plates, main reason folks dont use them is the restriction of flow, not that they wont work
Glad your liking it

haha! Yeah me too!

Started mine up this past Saturday. Love the fact my hot water heater does not come on.
-
I still haven't started mine yet. It's going to get down into the lower 30's here this weekend but I'm going to try and hold off as long as I can. I've got a electric heat pump that I just need someone to come fix and it would get me through October and maybe part of Novemeber without burning any wood.
-
Well I am up and running. Our high temps are suppose to be in the 50s this weekend!
-
I'm not firing mine up yet. In a couple of weeks I'll be off from work for the week so I think I'll fire her up then. I'm looking forward to not using oil for domestic hot water and heat, though. It hasn't cold enough here in NH (for me anyway) to fire up the OWB. Heck, I haven't turned up a thermostat in my house yet. The temps have been around 65 to 68 without it.
-
Pool was hooked up on sat and now the house is too. (13,000 gallons, in-floor, water heater, and 4500 sq ft)
-
:thumbup:I just fired mine today, I used the propane furnace for a couple of hours tops, and then decided wood heat is almost free, what in the heck am I doing, fire it up. I also turned up the stat to 73. All of you cold people need to know how warm you could be if you would just fire your OWB.
-
With a forecasted high of 52 today with rain, I reluctantly fired mine up this morning. Felt weird as my lighting the fire, I could hear my neighbor mowing his yard.
-
Fired my up this morning, lows in the 30's next couple days!
-
So far so good. I have been up and running for just over two weeks now with the new boiler I built. I am having to relearn how to burn wood in it since I have been burning wood in a inside wood stove for years. Like not having to Check the thing every three or four hours plus trying to get use to oping it up and not seeing any fire or much sign of life like its going out but when it calls for heat and that blower kicks on within minutes it's all up in flames again. Oh ya and not having to clean up the mess I had to put with in the basement from all the wood and ash!!!!!!!!!! ;D

I got the water heater connected yesterday, started a fire, and as soon as we got home from church I finished the heat exchanger plumbing and am now heating with wood.
-
Got my owb going it is nice that my heat pump is not kicking in yeah! I am new to owb it's not too cold here but will be in mid to upper 30s for next couple of days I figured it would be good to try out before the cold really sets in you know. So far so good!
