Title: How close can your water to air exchanger be to the furnace heat exchanger?
Post by: Fourced on October 07, 2012, 08:13:20 AM
Title kind of says it all, I can fit a 20x20 air to water if it sits right on top of the furnace.

It will be less than 2" from the furnace exchanger...

I'm no expert, but I don't see any problem at all with it.

Mine is about 6 to 8 inches away and I don't think it would be a problem if it was much closer.

If the A coil got cold enough to freeze the heat exchanger it would ice up and not let any air through.

When they get low on freon they can but when working properly can't. If you are worried about it, you could put in a temperature cut out switch and put in series with the Y thermostat wire.

It is possible if something in the ac broke and allowed it to freeze, mine freezes up once per season but it never affected my coil
