Is there any insulation that will hold up on my h2 instead of buying new insulation from a hardy dealer?

I'm sure there are many types you could use, does yours have like 3-4" thick bats

yea its about 3-4 inches or so. its a 92 model, it looks just like the r-19 stuff that i put in my shop building except it had no backing paper and its yellow. I guess as long as you use the fiberglass it wouldnt matter because that stuff doesnt burn?

Can you afford the close cell expandable foam insulation?  That stuff is amazing but it isn't cheap.  My Central Boiler owb is sprayed with that stuff and believe me, the heat stays inside the owb and cold stays outside.

where did you come across those? my dealer just has a big piece that would have to cut for the top and back for 55 bucks. is that steep?

When I bought my Hardy H2 it had been involved in a fire.  some of the insulation was completely burnt off.  I havn't replaced it yet but I plan on doing so really soon.  I think when I do I will just take a few pieces of R-19 that I have in my garage and rip it in half (thickness) and try to get it to stay on the water tank so I can get the cover back on it. 

I know hardy sells the pieces that are already pre-cut and will fit right in there but I don't really think it's worth the money that you are going to pay for it.  And really, I don't believe that it does that good of a job.

I will suggest the easiest and the best but it isn't the cheapest. Call around to some spray foam installers and see what they would charge for x square feet if they are close by. I would not hazard a guess but it wouldn't hurt to ask. If you can afford it you will not regret using it.

live in a small town and i think the nearest company is about 100 miles away. home depot and lowes is the same distance. i will keep checking around, thanks for the info

I bought the rigid board insulation from McMaster-Carr when I overhauled my H2.
