just wondering

Good Question.
I have had the first fire in mine since installation. I love the stove. Temps are supposed to get up to 80 here by the end of the week with lows in the 50's. Wondering if i should let it go out or feed it till next week. Still very "GREEN" at this.
Thanks.

I don't have mine going yet because I'm trying to hold off until at least the first of November. But... If I already had it lit I would just keep it going depending on how long the warm weather will last. If it's only a few days of warm weather like it's supposed to be here in Illinois I would keep it goin.

I live in central Ohio. We are suppose to have upper 70s all week. I'm going to shut down. I figure why use the wood and make my house extra warm. All I have to do is relight in a week or so.

I would let it run especially if it heats your hot water for your house. It will use very little wood!!

No right or wrong answer, suit yourself
Mine is off

Mine is on because of the hot water exchanger.

Mines on, all the hot water we want and no propane for only 3 sticks a day.

I'd just leave it running..Your not gonna burn that much wood..Your warm temp, like where I am (not as warm) is just temporary...Why give the $$ to the oil/propane man..But hey to each there own!

Mine's off again. Just got it back after a full refab and it's too efficient - so airtight it's burning out after 6 or 8 hours if the blower doesn't come on, otherwise I might have let it run through this warm spell. I finally gave in a couple days ago, shut down all the pumps and threw a bucket over the stack. Temps are supposed to drop again Sat/Sunday, I'll light up again then and that will probably be when the real season begins.
Besides using up firewood unnecessarily, the drawback of starting/stopping this time of year is the longer the stove sits dirty and not burning, the more opportunity for corrosion to set in. I gotta say though, I'm already missing that extra hot water!
