I recently built a new shop 30'x32' with a 12' lean to on side that houses my new heatmore OWB.I have been burning the stove for just over a week now.I extended the pipe above the lean to roof by approx. 4' I used regular galv. uninsulated 8'' stove pipe, due to some mis calulating during the project I had to put to adjustable offsets in the smoke stack (approx. 30 degree on ea) in order to miss the overhang on the end of the building I want to eventually replace w/ S.S. insulated pipe,at the time I couldn't find the offset fittings.I have since found them but would rather not purchase just yet (very pricey). The stove burns fine and keeps our water at the desired temperture my only issue is the amount of smoke that comes out the door while trying to load. The front 30'' or so of the stove is under roof and I smell of smoke every time I try and load it.I put a rain cap on top of the stack with no screen or sides its just a cap with open sides.I have tried loading my stove with the fan running and with it off, neither seem to make much difference.I live in a wooded area, the stove was installed below ground level with a 6' retaing wall at the back.As mentioned the stack is above the lean to roof but well below the peak of the main shop roof.As the smoke exits the stack it doesn't appear to linger.I was hoping not to extend the stack any higher. It is supported off the side w/ a standoff, going higher would probably require cables that I wouldn't like.Any suggestions??

Is there any way that you can turn the fan off and open the damper before you open the door to load it? My buddies' stove did the same until he tried the combination described above. Hope this helps.

My CB2300 does the same thing, smokes terrible out the door. I've found that waiting to open the door until just before it's burn cycle can help a lot, when the wood has sat idle for an extended period. It buys some time, but esp. if you stir up the coal bed it will re-kindle itself and smoke more and more the longer the door is open.
