Hello i just bought a Earth 305 bear cub its great so far .Has a few kinks to work out.
I have a 1208 square foot modular and use a 16x16 heat exchanger above a coil (gonna move it below a coil next year)
and a 10 plate exchanger inline with cold water line going into water heater water temp coming out of faucet is 118 which is hot enough i have a 15 month little girl. The aquastat is set at 160 the dealer told me to set the differential at 10 degrees That was way to far apart i changed it to five then 2 degrees. The fire would go out if i set it any further .I have a tran heat pump with electric backup so i turned the breaker off for the electric coil and set my thermostat for 73 degrees seems to work fine.IS there anything im missing? Thanks im new at this only been runing three days

I would leave diffirential a 10 degrees. Even though your fire isnt""look like its burning" it is still smoldering.. Thats the beauty of these stoves. With your diff at 2 degrees you gotta be going through a ton of wood.. you should have no issue at all heating your home and your DHW.. I have alot more demand than your calling for and have endless hot water and heating 3000 Sq ft. plus a 1000 sq ft garage. Never have any issues with keeping the house at 74 garage at 70.. and five person family taking really long showers. What do you have for a pump? How many feet of head? How far is furnace from your home? 1" pex? Well insulated? Alot of variables...
My stove is set at 175 year around with a 10 deree diff. I worried at firs it wasnt staying burning,, but dont worry as long as it keeps your water to your set temp.. put wood in and walk away,,, trust me it was hard for me to just leave it alone at first too... But all part of ""learning your stove""
Take care
Matt

Ok its been incredibly warm here upper sixties.Mine is set at 160 with two degree diff
It will kick on at 158 and by the time it gets going it goes down to 157 then shuts off at 160 but normally hits 162 before it starts cooling down again.I have a 1/3 hp pump
one inch pex fully insulated around 80 foot loop
sits about 20 feet away from house. It hasnt been cold to really test it but .I can easily go over 14 plus hours without reloading wood. When it gets colder I may go through alot more wood.So far not much an arm load twice a day.Im going to hook my hot tub to it soon so it will deff use more wood then. Thanks for the help

I agree, you should be fine with a larger differential and longer burns are more efficient. It is amazing how long it can smolder. I run mine all summer long and I think it only burns once a day in the summer; sometimes maybe not even that. Never went out. I would imagine it would take a couple days to really put it out.

witht that short of loop you may be able to go to a 15mon diffirential. WIth that 2 min set your not getting the best effecincy out of your stove, I also run mine through the summer and there were days it wouldnt kick on for almost 36 hrs. And one time this fall i had to shut down to change some plumbingf and after 5 days of being of water was still at 147 degrees... try changing diffirental and let me know if it works better. I think if you let it go longer then let fire get hotter running it will be much more efficent for you.. WIsh RSI or willie or Scottt would chime in,,, they got alot of very good advice also :)

Ok i guess im just paranoid about it going out
ill set it to a 10 dege like my dealer recomended and see how it goes. Thanks for help
Yeah RSI has helped my hottub hook up
Without this website i would be lost there is NOONE in my area that has a OWB.I think your right im getting too much moisture build up and is making my draft door on the fan stick probably because the wood was a little damp plus its not running very long to only bring it up 2 degrees.

I would run that baby on at least a 10 degree differential until it actually went out on you one day. Running at a lower differential will keep them lit more easily but it will burn more wood and cause more creosote.

Ok i set it at seven degrees its starting to actually be winter intead of mid sixties in december. So far it keeps my house so hot i had some windows open this morning 35 degrees outside.

if house is too warm try dropping your boiler set point say 160 instead of 165.. My house will stay right what thermostat is set at unless it is over 65 outside, then house starts to climb above thermostat. otherwise its always following the thermostat temp. are you using forced air or floor heat? what size exchanger fo you have? just dont go below 140 degrees on stove as a setpoint. some people i know run 155-160 in the winter... but mine seems to run the best and most efficient at 175..

Do you have your water flowing through your heat exchanger all the time?? If your house is getting that warm when it's mild outside, I'm guess you do and you are getting natural convection of heat through your duct work. You might consider adding a 3-way zone valve.

Yes it stays with the thermostat unless it gets over 55 outside.I have to open the windows.Mine is set at 160 with a seven degree diff it looks like if the temp doesnt go above 40 i have to load it about every 16 hours
Im going to put a bypass on it for summer hottub and hot water use.I have a 16x16 heat exchanger with a downdraft forced air blower 1208 square feet.
