thanks roger nice to meet you to.....I had an out door model royall 7200 stainless nonpressurized but had a ton of problems with it....alot of the welds were leaking after 4 years.....I still have the pics. I work for a welding supply company and i have a water cooled tig,and a mig welder at home, but another friend had the same one and he fixed his a week or two later it would leak somewhere elese...I did not want to have to drain a boiler every 2 weeks to weld it so I bought a thermal-control wood boiler(indoor model) in an insulated jacket....and love it...he makes outdoor models as well....
I may build a woodboiler in a year or two for my neighbor...they are worth the money....plus you dont have to buy fuel oil.....lol

Kelly - The main reason I went with an owb was due to the high price of fuel oil.  If I used fuel oil to heat my house, I would have had to dish out over $5,000.00 this year.  I now spend approx. $600.00 per year on fire wood.  I get it in log length at $100.00 per cord due to not having access to a wood lot where I could fell my own trees.  Plus I was able to save 10% on my home owners insurance due to the unit being outside away from my house.  And, a side benefit is there is no mess in the house, it's all outside.  Good luck with your boiler.  Roger

Nice county over there. Lots of huge deer! I worked on the wind farm construction from 2004-2007.

I remember driving in from Canton one morning. I hit snow in Croghan. By the time I hit Lowville there was 12" at 8am and by noon there was 48" of fluffy powder in our work yard! I loved making my rounds via snow sled and seeing the town plow the dirt roads with V plows and wings out on both sides! It was quite a site coming over a hill and seeing that coming at you!

Mountains, Northern New Mexico,  Taos county  we are up high in elevation. Gets cold enough to burn from sept to mid June. Dec,Jan, Feb, night time temps -15 to -30 , day temps 5 to 20 degrees. Should have over 3 feet of snow now, but into 4 years of a nasty drought, last decent snow was in October, dry since then.

We kind of used to be the same way. When I was a toddler corn fields to the west, pastures to the east and they just started to let the new state park grow up on the north side of the road.

The last 40 years has seen the trees get a lot bigger in the park so that blocks a lot of the north wind, then the windbreak we planted almost thirty years ago on the west side makes a HUGE difference. Rare to get a real cold wind out of the east but not unheard of.

My cousins place is in the middle of nowhere, nearest tree is 3/4 of a mile away, I hate going there to help do anything in the winter, just plain bitter with any wind at all.

Yeah, even on a calm day it's windy as all heck. We get an inch of snow, then we have 12 inch snow drifts in our yard. But, my wife & I love this spot, main reason why we bought this house with the 360 degree view.
