Title: Using existing Honey TH5000 thermostat
Post by: robash9608 on December 31, 2012, 08:56:35 PM
I have a new 4 ton Heil DX 1500 split unit heat pump. I want to use the heat pump as a backup for my OWB. I've heard of people unhooking the electric heat strips and putting the thermostat on emergency heat to only use the thermostat to control the blower. Can I use this Thermostat for this application?

The link below contains the  thermostat that I'm using, its the TH5220D model.

I wouldn't do it like that...  You can install another thermostat right by your exsisting one that will just turn the fan on, u use jumper wires and it literally takes 5 minutes.
