Title: Leaving for a week
Post by: MarineRecon on January 14, 2013, 06:38:12 AM
Our travel schedule during the winter mandates that we are gone for a week or more at a time. Being the first year with this type of heating I'm curious as to what I should do.

Let the fire burn out totally and then begin anew when I get back....clean out ashes totally?

Turn off unit except for pump..

Thanks,
Nick

Yea, before you leave just turn the unit off except for the circulating pump.

When I leave for a few days or more, I turn off the fan on the OWB and leave the circs on.  I have an inline rad after the electric furnace that keeps my water in the lines and OWB from freezing.

Restart the fire after I get home.
