Title: Central Boiler question model 6048
Post by: Det on February 06, 2013, 07:04:39 PM
Hello all and thanks for a great site,

My question is the expected time for a Central Boiler to last.

My father bought his Central Boiler 10 years and 3 months ago and last month it sprung a leak in the fire box.

He maintained this religiously, only burned hardwoods and never any trash and stuff. Over the ten years he kept the ph level and all as required.

Is this typical for the life span of these furnaces ?

and has anyone had any success fixing a firebox?

Thanks

There could be a hundred variables, if it's rotted out, good luck

If it's a single hole it could easily be fixed.

Many stoves will last much longer, may be just bad luck

I feel bad for your dad. Let me just say I would never ever buy one of those stoves. Could be just a lemon stove but I have heard this from others.
