Hey guys,
Wrapping everything up for the season and starting to get wood for the year after next stacked,just was curious what others typical usage is. I've got a woodmaster 4400 heating 2500 sq ft and I used about 11-12 cords, but I have a few issues I need to fix while it's down this summer.

I'm heating a drafty old 1600sq ft farm house, 24x30 garage( at 50 when not working in it), and dhw. I'm at about 14 cord right now since Thanksgiving. BTW it's still burning, been cold for the last week, down in the 30's at night. Hopefully that's done as the thermometer is climbing fast, 74 as I type.

I have a central boiler eclassic 1400 heating a 1840's farmhouse with insulation upgrade 2 years ago; R40 in the ceilings and R38 in the walls. I'm heating my DHW and 3000sqft. I used just a tick over 6 1/2 cord this year. I fired her up at the beginning of Oct. 2012 and shut her down May 4th. Roger

P&M Optimizer 250 in south Jersey. Fired it up the first weekend in October and shut it down the last weekend in April. Heating 3000 square feet - 9 cords this year. About 6-7 of that was pine. Last year my heating season was shorter and I used 5.5 cords of hardwood.

E-classic 1400 2600 sq ft DHW Late October to mid April. 8 - 9 cords

Eastern Ohio, I have an MS 250 Cozyburn by Pro-Fab. Burned about 10 cords, heating a 2700 sq. ft.

Here's my question. I'm in Arkansas, heating a 1900sq house and 720sq shop, Any ideas how much I need to have on hand? This is my firsst winter coming up.

I had a H-2 Hardy for 12 years and always used about 22 face cords a winter (un insulated pipes)
This winter in a new house 3500 square feet and a 1500 ft shop with well insulated pipe I used a little over 10 face cord.
Most of the wood I burned was railroad tie ends I lucked into from a sawmiller friend of mine. They were 6"x9x22" mostly green oak.
Surprisingly enough the Hardy didn't smoke much burning green wood.
With building a house last year I didn't properly aquire wood and he saved my neck with the tie ends. I don't plan on repeating that this year, I want to have stacks of seasoned oak and hickory...

Does anyone else call stacks of wood ranks? I know it is not a legal measurement, but I have cut and burned wood most of my 55 years and never heard anyone around here call a stack of wood anything but a rank or a rick.
I know it is a face cord 4' x whatever x 8'

My part of the world..Its all measured by the cord..Never seen a ad for wood sold as a "rank or a rick". I have seen "facecord"..For the amount of wood that I burn in a 7 month period..Its a good 10- 11 cord..Really depends on mother nature.. 1800 sq, unlimited hot water, temp set at 75F during winter.... Boiler still fired up here...Another week is prob it..

1800sq ft home and dhw used about 4.5 cord. Burnrite 228 Michigan made baby

Mountains of Virginia, heating 1900sqft log home to 74º and unlimited dhw using a pro steel aka early heatmaster I burned 8 cord from oct.-april.

I would say I burn 15-16 cord, went from 9-4-12 to 5-5-13
