Can someone tell me what kind of valve to use for a fill valve. I want to be able to add water if needed from inside. Would I just put it in my return line? And one more question where can I get a inline temp gage that's not made by shark bite. Also should the temp gage be located near the furnace or where the line comes thru the basement wall.

As for location - In the house, I placed one in the feed and one in the return line. You'll want to know the return temps as well as the feed temps. Roger

AS for fill valve, a simple ball valve attatched to any domestic water line that tees into your wood boiler loop will be fine but here is a tip, when you tee into the line put a ball valve on each side of the tee so that you can feed water in either direction back to the boiler, this is very helpful in eliminating air in the underground lines as the water will force the air back to the boiler.

Wow.... I'm thinking of using both suggestions from Ito and Slimjim for my hook up. Both of them cover a lot of ground. And thanks to roger for the gauge site.

I know it is an old post but a check valve would not be a bad idea since there are chemicals in the boiler.
