Im getting ready to order all my stuff to FINALLY get my furnace in my room that I'm building on the ousdide of my polebarn. I will be going about 125ft underground and I am going with the 3 wrap in the tile PLUS i scored some 6" black HEAVY wall ABS that I will then put it in.
It is a pressurized system and i will be using a 50plate HX to heat my existing oil boiler and then a 20 to heat my DHW. I am using Pex-al-Pex for my run into the house. I am leaning towards making up some copper connections to the HX's along with y-strainers and full port valves.
Now the 100 million $$$ question: What fittings will go from Pex-al-Pex to copper, is there one? Am i going to have a cluster of adapters to go to/from pipe and then go to compression fittings?
Thanks for the help........my head is starting to hurt(or am i just over analyzing this???)

Why r u using pexalpex, is the unit pressurized ?

Yes, you can get sweat x pex-al-pex fittings. If you have trouble finding them, let me know. I think I have some sitting on my desk.

Scott, yes it is pressurized.
RSI, The fittings you have, how do they attach to the pex? compression, Sharkbite, crimp? IIRC my buddy has the crimper that will do the bands on Pex-al-Pex, but I cant find the barbed fittings(or whatever are used with the crimped bands on the pex-al-pex) that specifically say they are for Pex-al-Pex.
Thanks for the help.

RSI, another question for you: your 1" barbed elbows can those be used on pex-al-pex, and then clamped with the stainless band clamp??
Thanks

Sorry, I forgot to reply.
The pex-al-pex fittings are compression. You just use two wrenches.
You can only use pex-al-pex fittings. Regular pex fittings are a different size.
90° pex-al-pex fittings are around $10 each.
