Title: coughing wood furnace

 i went out to furnace today to check out why it was smoking more than usual ,opened door to find wood blocking draft on bottom so i moved some wood around and headed inside.while walking away i heard a sound like a roman candle  turned to see a chunk of charred wood shoot out of the chimney! i think i might make a spark screen for top. has this ever happened to anyone?

Yes, If I load mine with some really volitile fuel, like cardboard or other stuff like that, It coughs and puffs like a train. it will even backfire out the inducer inlet sometimes.
