Title: Burning red cedar

Hello all, just wondering if anyone has burnt much red cedar in there owb? Here in Missouri I'm all the time clearing a few here and there just to get  them out of the way. I wouldn't be burning all cedar but maybe a few sticks here and there mixed with white oak. I know it seems to burn hot and fast but the only way I've ever burnt was in piles. Thanks

Burn it, it will be fine, it just doesn't last as long as your hard woods, I've burned it.   Free wood is good wood  :thumbup:

I think it is but around here they buy it to grind up and they want it a certain diameter and specific length. You get docked hard for any "cull" logs. Smooth and no stubs. At the end of the day I'm not sure if its worth it or not. If a guy was out of work and had a bunch of cedars than it beats starving. Just my opinion.

I like to burn any softwood I gather during the year in the spring and fall when the call for heat is not as much. It does not last as long but heats the house the same. Like Scott says free wood is good wood.

wood like that is like a girl i knew burn hot and fast but shure will clean the smokstack we are close i live by boonville on I70
