Do you think it would be worth trying to burn some corn cobs? Farmers are starting to knock down the corn by my house and there is a pile of cobs lying around. Got me thinking? I wonder if I could get a long burn time or if it would just be a waste of my time.....

I have run them in our wood chip boiler, the Enviro 500 and they worked very well but I think they would have done much better if I had chipped them first.

Yeah they'll burn. Won't last like wood, but if the field is right there, and there is a pile where the combine stopped, grab some and toss them in the fire. I wouldn't waste a lot of time collecting them if you have wood though. If a person was picking corn, and then shelling it at the barn it would be feasible. But with a combine spreading them in the field you're going to have a lot of leg work gathering a truckload. You'd get more enjoyment out of making corn cob jelly with them.
We're going at it full tilt right now. We've got a few hundred acres done. Love this time of year!
