I have a ridge wood stove. i looked out the window and seen steam coming out.
so i run out there and the damper door is stuck open. it got up to 212 but i didn't lose all the water but this has me worried. should i be spraying some wd40 on that solenoid? has anyone had this happened to anyone else?
-
Spray it with some oil and manually work it up and down and spray it again
I had a heatmaster overheating due to a solenoid that had some surface rust on it the other day, cleaned it and it fixed it

thanks scott. you don't think any damage was done to the stove would you? its only been running for a little more then a month

WD-40 will help right away but it will promote rust in the very near future, my advice would be wd-40 for now and when you get it freed up use a few drops of automatic transmission oil or maybe even gun oil if you are one of us crazy gun owners. The stuff stays very slippery for a long time in the weather and has anti corrosive stuff already in it.

no way would it hurt it, but slim is right about wd40
initially its ok but long term its junk

I use Aero Kroil penetrating oil on mine. works good

AUTOMAN do you own a gun?

i thought you were supposed to get a gun before a chainsaw
