Title: Natural gas powerplant vs nearby homeowners
Post by: DaveWertz on November 07, 2013, 11:17:27 PM
Well this has been an ongoing thing around my area. A local farm was just sold this yr for $5mill. Moxie energy will be building a natural gas powerplant on this farm or I should say farm land. Now this will be constructed not even an 1/8 mile from my home. Im hoping someone on here has had experiance with this, but what will this do to my home value? I dont want any added traffic nor do I want the noise or pollution from it. I want to know if it will be safe for me to live there that close. I know people say there safe but what if something really happens and my ass gets blown to pcs! Is there a certain distance they have to be away from residental places? A few homes were already bought out but haven't heard if they would buy anymore. Kinda wondering if they will make me an offer??? This has me flustered pretty bad as I don't want to get screwed over with my home and pc and quite.....

a lot of gas/oil going on around here too,it is a bit scary. That would really suck to be as close as you.Did you lease your rights with cheasepeke, everyone around here did.Probably cant stop it but hopefully at least you might profit from it.good luck to you hope things work out.

Health wise I don't think you will have a problem, Natural gas burns very clean.

They factor so much safety into those plants it's pathetic.
I work for a deep foundation company which is required on a fair amount of these projects.
The literally have a safety of 3x.

Sorry, you will see traffic (Construction) and once its installed you'll be able to tell everyone where you live based off
of the steam cloud generated & stack height.

No I didnt lease any of my land to anyone. I only own about 1.5acres. I see my neighbor just put there house on the market. They have been there for a LONG time!. I didnt get a chance to ask why they are moving. I just hope my house dont from 125k--->100k. I would be losing allot of my equity if I ever decide to move. Im on the fence about this, My grand pap lived here for 40+yrs so the house means allot to me, I just moved in exactly a yr ago today. I have dumped thousands into this place to get it "up to date" and I would hate for all that to be ruined. The only real way I would move is if they gave me an offer I cant refuse which they might not even offer anything, who knows? Victor if I did try to smoke them out they would probably laugh at me and really smoke my azz out LOL!

not that itis much consolation but  aroundm e there have been a lot of windtowers go up and some folks have had some success at taking the municpal tax guys on and proving ot them that the value of their homes have gond down by asmuch as 30 percent and they get their tax loes lowered. i know this is not what a lot of folks want to there but if you are going to continue living there...why not cheaper

Hey Willie, in an unrelated topic, I was in Bancroft Ontario 2 years ago for a small logging expo, I saw a lot of signs saying something to the effect of ( this is privatly owned land, Govt Keep out ), have you seen them and would it be possible to get a couple of those signs, I tried to buy some at the hardware store in Bancroft but they were sold out, Geez I wonder why!

havent seen them but will keep an eye out for them, the ones around here are "health studies before wind towers" and "stop the wind" things like that. it is getting bad here as it has put some neighbours angainst neighbours  as some sign up for it and some don't

From what I understood the signs kept any govt employee from having legal accces to your property without a signed warrant, there were lots of them in the Bancroft area, I haven't come as close to stealing anything as I did with those silly signs, I almost did then, sure wish I could get a couple to put up here at my place in Maine.
