Title: battle with pex
Post by: chillyhiker on November 08, 2013, 06:33:53 AM
so after fighiting with a 100 ft roll of 1" pex last night trying to finish up my hookups in the basement...i was wondering why i.couldnt just use 3/4" heater hose for everthing instead of trying to get the pex straightned out .that stuf kicked my arse!
Here's a pic of the back of my ridge wood with one pump hooked up for house and dhw. Other will be for pole barn and pool.

Pex can be something else in roll form, you did an excellent job on the back of the stove!  Looks good

well scott  id like to take the credit but the drawings and parts list you included with the stove made it pretty simple. reminded me of the erector set days as a kid.

I used heater hose once I got the pex in the house. The thing I do like about it is I have no elbows in it to restrict flow.

What do you use to connect the black pipe to the pex?  I will probably need something like this when I got to hook my garage up to my boiler.  I don't have much room in there!  :bash: Also, where did you get that sharkbite fitting with a temp guage in it?

3/4 " heater hose slips onto the standard 1" pex coupler you just us a hose clamp on the rubber end I think I got the tep gauges through altheat supply but cannot be sure ive been stockpiling all the parts and pieces  for a few months.

So, why not use a pex bend support or just a couple of street elbows; or just wait run some 180F water thru those pipes and BAM they get flexible real fast.
