I've been running my new 1450 for a few weeks now. (Works great ;D) Ive been checking the lower chamber for the last couple weeks in anticipation of removing the ash, but to my surprise there is hardly any... I figured weekly ash removal but it appears as though I could go months. This doesn't seem normal to me. Anyone else with a 1450 care to chime in with their ash removal frequency. Is this unit just that efficient or am i missing something?

I don't have the 1450, I have the 1400 but if you're not making much ash, good for you. Empty it when it needs it. But, don't let it get too deep. The cleaner the reaction chamber, the more efficient it operates.
Great having a warm house and not hearing the oil/gas burner running, isn't it? I'm starting my 3rd season with my 1400 and I wonder why I waited so longer to go this route.

I have a 1450. Every 3-4 days I push the ash out from the reaction chamber bricks but probably could make it 6-7 days before it was to top of brick depends on quality of wood burning oak right now softer wood more ash made. I run that rod next to reaction tube to open it up which knocks most of ash down there.

Going to close out my original post: after a few months of burning, I'm finally getting the ash I expected. I suspect the first few weeks were very light due to warmer outside temps, less wood consumed and there's a large volume of space that ash will occupy before the reaction chamber needs to be cleaned. I probably have a few buckets in the top hopper mixed in with my continuous bed of coals. I try to shake what I can down each fill, and now it seems like I need to clean twice a week. (could probably go 1-1.5 weeks without cleaning but that would just make a mess)
I've been cleaning it every Wednesday and Saturday with a small (few gallon) bucket being taken out each time. I cleaned the heat exchanger for the first time ever this past weekend and I maybe have a handful or two of ash from it after a few months of burning.

I have the E3200 very little ash..... Been running for 2 1/2 years straight...
empty every 2 weeks.... only 2-3 inches high...

How much wood do you burn with your 3200? What type of wood? I've been noticing that it will affect the amount of ash produced.
