Title: creosote problems
Post by: hammkevin on December 04, 2013, 07:37:34 PM
I have a Ozark meramec and I am having bad creosote problems. This outdoor unit does not have a draft just a fan. I try to build a hot fire 2 or 3 times a week to burn all the creosote out but it doesn't get it all and by the next day its real gummy. The smoke stack get creosote in it but its easy to clean. I can just scrape it right off. Why doesn't the rest of it do that? I burn wood that is dry and seasoned. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it very much.

I had a plugged chimney recently, which was causing a backup with creosote coming out the door.  I cleaned my chimney and it made ALL the difference in the world!  I felt dumb for not checking it sooner.  So, perhaps check your chimney and any other part of the air flow in your OWB and perhaps the creosote matter may improve.  I have a CentralBoiler e2300 gasser.
