Anyone on here have a wood master 5500 just wandering why the 5500 model only hold just under 200 gallons of water but supposed to heat 10000 sq ft.anyone heating a lot of space with theirs? I have a Midwest that holds 200 gal but only rated for 5000 sq ft.I am heating 3000 sq ft house hot water and 500 sq ft garage and wanting to heat my hot tub also.looking at a used 5500 wodmaster?

Those 'Will heat XXXX Sqft' never made any sense to me. I know that that thing won't heat a 10000 sqft greenhouse but could easily heat 10000 sqft of well insulated house. The number you really want to look at is the BTU rating. The 5500 is rated at 360,000 BTU and the fire box is huge, 50x56. Lots of space for wood and heat transfer area.

BTU rating isn't really a good thing to look at either. Some companies use the peak output numbers to look good for advertising, some use the continuous average over a certain length of time and some just seem to pick numbers out of this air.
The sq footage rating is really just a reference number to compare one model of the same brand to another and is usually somewhat comparable between brands but not always.
Water capacity really has little to do with how much a boiler can heat. If they have faster recovery time they don't need as much water as a stove that takes a while to get burning again and need the extra water to act as a buffer.

I have a radar now for wood stoves. I found this little gem near where I live the other day. It is a Woodmaster 5500. It looks like he heats one of his machine sheds (or more.) My family knows the owner, but I haven't made contact with them. If you are desperate for answers, I can try to get their contact information.

Just curious I found a used one online I'm wanted to upgrade to something that does 10000sq ft.do u like your heat master?

We just bought a 5500 this year. We are heating a 2500 sq ft 100 year old farm house and a 40 X 60 Pole building with a 24 X 24 office. The shop has 16 ft walls & five overhead doors. The doors are open and closed all day long. We run a repair business out of it. It has in floor heat. We love how well the woodmaster 5500 works! We had a different stove that had a bigger water capacity in it that claimed to be able to do 10,000 sq ft and it couldnt keep up at all.

Yep gallons aint got a lot to do with capacity
Woodmaster 3300 is for 2000 sq ft of well insulated space at 105 gallons
4400 is for likr 5000 and its 117 gallons
