Title: Ordered a new Ranco auquastat and have a question
Post by: AirForcePOL on December 28, 2013, 11:08:15 AM
I ordered a ranco controller on eBay for $43 (along with the rest of the parts to finally hook my owb up to my garage )  anyway, do I just run the temp probe into the dry well on my Hardy where the other one is? Or is it better to run the wire directly into the water?I figured I would ask since they are set up differently.   The Honeywell has a copper probe that is much bigger in diameter and fills most of the drywell while the ranco is just a small wire.   Suggestions are appreciated!  Thanks!

You need to put it in a well. Use heat transfer paste on the probe and seal around the wire with silicone. (don't get silicone on the probe itself, just the wire)

Thanks RSI! It will be here on Tuesday.  I can't wait to get it hooked up so I can get rid of that Honeywell!
