Title: Blower & Solenoid Not Turning On
Post by: TM88 on January 09, 2014, 06:49:31 PM
Having issues where the stove should be calling for the blower & solenoid to turn on and open and is not. I have the Ranco controller and have it set at 180 off with 15 degree on. Noticed tonight when i walked by it was at 163 and not running. Checked for codes on the ranco and saw none. Turned it off to reset it and nothing. Checked for power back at the blower and solenoid and had none. Then out of the blue it kicks on. any help is my Ranco going out??

I don't know much about the Ranco controllers (just bought one haven't installed it yet) but I would say that's what it sounds like to me.   On my Honeywell I can jump the two terminals with a screw driver to bypass the controller to see if that's the problem or not.

You can do the same thing with the Ranco.

Make sure all the connections are tight. If it happens again I would try to jump the connections and if the blower comes on and then goes off when you take away the jumper the I would tap the relay and see if that makes it come on.

Or if you have a meter, check if the relay is making connection.

Thanks All I'll check into your suggestions.

I'm thinking it might be the high limit forgot about that it has warmed way up here and i'm thinking it might be running by set point enough  to hit the high limit will watch and see were it finally settles down at.

It will refire about 130-140

Sounds to me like u hit 190 and its off til it cools

which tells me u likely need to adjust door

the first thing I ask a frantic customer with this issue, is did u or anyone else take ur ashes out today

u can not get the ash pan fitting square to the flange or possibly spilled ashes out and put ash pan in on top of them.

Thanks to all !!!!!

It was the high temp shut off... Since the temps have warmed up here the shut off I had at 185 was allowing it to climb to 190, 191 before it leveled out after the shut off, Lowered my temp back down to 180 and running fine now. thanks for all your help. Forgot about the High Temp shut down.
