Hello, I visited this site http://www.ultimategarageheater.com/hot-water-garage-heater/search.php (http://www.ultimategarageheater.com/hot-water-garage-heater/search.php) and calculated the size hydronic unit heater I need for my garage. Garage is 26 X 30, 12' ceiling, 2 x 6 walls with fiberglass, ceiling R38. Would a 50,000 BTU unit suffice? It says 200 degree water, I won't be running water more than 180* from a P & M Ultimizer, right?

Oh yeah that will work. The fan will run as long as it takes to reach your set temp. I heat a 30x40 10' ceiling garage to 50 degrees with a homemade heat exchanger. And the fan runs mostly just when you pull a car in or out for 5-10 minutes.
My heat exchanger is a water to air HX meant for the furnace plenum that I built a plywood box around with a box fan behind it that is turned on and off by a 110v thermostat.

I think your heater selection will be adequate. Also not sure what other BL owners are running for temps but I have mine set at 190 with a 12* differential.

Right on crow, thanks for running her hot! For those of you who wish to save money on garage heaters allow me to describe the units that I made myself for our shows. Procure an old hot air oil or propane fired mobile home furnace, remove all gas and oil parts, leave the squirell cage blower, place a 17 by 18 inch radiator in the empty cabinet and you have a unit heater that makes far less noise and performs better than any of those chinese manufactured modines i've ever seen. Rubber heater hoses can be used as water lines inside the garage to allow for easy movement of the units, I use mine at the shows to dry clothing on a rainy day, warm potential customers on a cold day and dry fruit on days that I can't think of any other way to attract attention. lawnmower wheels mounted on the bottom of the unit allows for easy movement. This is one of those places you can cut costs.

That is a really great idea slimjim! Thank you for sharing. I'm going to try this in my 3-car built-in garage.

Why buy it when you can have fun scrounging up the parts and build it yourself.
