A friend of mine has a CB5036 about 8 years old sent me this picture of his original pump. Any idea what caused it to fail ? How many years should the impeller be good for & how often should it be inspected?
thanks

I am no pump expert, but I would guess that only three thing could affect the impellar;
Heat
Debris
Chemical
** forgot age
Since you made no mention of rocks or chunks of stuff coming out of lines when taken apart, I would guess that just normal wear and tear took its toll

How is the circ installed? Does it feed the top or bottom side of a header? Or is it just inline of one big loop. .has debris been checked for in the bottom of boiler? I'm gonna take pics of the almost full 5 gallon bucket I cleaned out on the Sprinter right now.
That appears to be chemical degradation, just like high chloride levels.
